Remembering Mosney Butlins

In the year 1982, the current owners (1982) of Butlin's, the Rank Organisation, had decided that Butlin's in Ireland has come to an end. It was on that very last day that the staff took off their Butlin's uniform as the gates closed for the last time representing the famous B sign. The last remaining camp to be outside the United Kingdom, the memory creation of them special moments had come to an end as the buildings remained, and the Butlin story had come to an end.

However, the Mosney camp story did not stop in 1982, the camp was reopened with a new name, Mosney Holiday Centre. The camp was full of life once again as the smiles and memories were created until the year 2000 when it had become Mosney Accommodation Centre under new owners. Today, this camp remains to be the only location that represents the original chalets of the Butlin's legacy outside the United Kingdom. I can only hope that one day, I could visit this beautiful location and see for myself, the pure beauty of what is there.
